Everybody has mobile phones nowadays, and those who don’t are high on the mobile phone industry’s hit list. First it was targeting the elderly, now the next wave seems to be targeted at a much younger audience.

Hello Kitty branded mobile phones are due to hit the streets in July, prompting many parents to sweat over its effect. The main issue revolves around health, as some reports suggest that 9 to 14 year olds should make only short, essential calls, and a report by Sir William Stewart even said that children under 8 should not use mobile phones at all.

Sue Palmer, author of Detoxing Childhood, which gives advice to parents on how to steer children through the problems of growing up said that bringing a Hello Kitty phone to the market was “very irresponsible”.
