Google's Android To Have A Safe Marketplace?

Published

on

While everybody is eagerly awaiting a device with Android to be launched, its good to see that progress is still being made before it actually becomes a reality. As project lead Andy Rubin mentioned at the Google I/O developer conference, “It would be a great benefit to the Android community to provide a place where people can go to safely and securely download content and where a billing system would allow developers to get paid for their effort”.

This is paves the way for a few benefits. One of them being that users can avoid malware and untested apps wreaking havoc on their phones, as apps available on the marketplace would obviously have been well tested beforehand. The other benefit, though mainly for Google, is that Google will probably make a little side income on purchases from the marketplace.

Given the open nature of Android, it’s probably safe to assume that users will see all sorts of random and interesting apps appearing on the marketplace, which can only be a good thing, for all parties.
