Vodafone Otello mobile photo search engine

Now that image recognition is making some movements in the way of application, we can expect to see more functionality introduced into mobile devices. Vodafone’s Otello, their latest search engine concept, would allow you to take photos from your phone, and send out a search query for the picture, receiving relevant information about the image in return.

Vodafone is gearing up to start a trial of Otello with German newspaper Bild, where participants will be able to snap pictures of images in the paper to find relevant information corresponding to the photo. Other than the trial, Vodafone is keeping information locked on the future of the service, but a successful trial could lead to further integration.
