Samsung launches Ace and M520 handsets for Sprint
Samsung launched two new handsets today, the M529 and Ace. The Samsung Ace ($199.99 with a two-year service agreement and $100 mail-in-rebate) for Sprint looks almost identical to AT&T’s Blackjack device, because it pretty much is the same design with a few micro cosmetic changes. The Ace offers support for Sprint’s speedy EVDO Rev. 0 and 1XRTT networks, thought doesn’t offer any support for Rev. A and is seriously lacking in the roaming abroad department, with international signals only available through GPRS.
The M529 ($49.99 after rebates and with a new two-year contract) is a more traditional slider device, providing a cheaper option to those who don’t need a device that is just too much phone for one person to handle. Offering GPS, EV-DO, Sprint TV and Sprint Music Store support, a disappointing 1.3 MP camera, Bluetooth with A2DP and web access are all squeezed into the impressively trim 4 x 2 x 0.5-inch handset.
