US 700 MHz spectrum bidders finalized, Google and 213 others
The FCC has finalized a list of prospective bidders for the upcoming 700 MHz frequency for the US. Listed are 214 interested parties, including Google listed under the title “Google Airwaves”, as well as other major companies including AT&T, Alltel, and Verizon Wireless. Previously used for “analog over-the-air TV”, the 700 MHz frequency is most likely to be used for major cellular services starting in February 2009, when the winning bidder will obtain the rights.
