Sprint: WiMax on track for April, customers "won't be ecstatic" about price

Sprint has been talking about their Xohm WiMax network for what seems like eons, and despite their efforts and failures along the way, it seems that everything still seems to be on track for the service provider. While speaking on a WiMax panel at CES, Chief Technology Officer Barry West had this to say about Sprint’s upcoming WiMax service, “People will be excited about our rates. They won’t be ecstatic about them because we’re not going to give it away,”

Really? We figured they would just hand the device to us and say “start surfing, Cowboy!” Despite the appearance of Captain Obvious, the statement at least provides a certain promise that prices will at least be manageable for the service. But is it enough to raise Sprint’s spirit enough among the competing AT&T and Verizon?
