Google launches iPhone-friendly interface

We’re actually surprised it took Google this long to launch its iPhone friendly interface on their main website. While Google has always maintained a mobile friendly design, the iPhone is not your average device. A little more is needed to optimize your site for the Apple handset.

The new Google interface for the iPhone is built on what has become the sample framework for iPhone web applications, building on the foundations of Joe Hewitt’s sample framework which has been used for dozens of popular web apps (including Facebook). Accessing Google through other devices will still take you to the old mobile user interface, as the new one is custom sewn for the iPhone.
