Following complaints from customers about their 3G service, Fido has announced some tweaks and additional services to be added to their network. Customers were previously paying for data plans ranging from 1MB for $12 and 200MB for $100.

The newly tweaked plans offer data plans for 12 MB costing $10 per month; or $18/month with a special “value pack” that also includes enhanced voice messaging, caller ID name display, as well as 2,500 SMS messages per month. Fido has also added video, radio, and TV services, including a new video calling service. Of course if your using Fido on a Windows Mobile phone, there are plenty of free open source applications you can download for use with your PDA, with no real need for an added radio and TV plan, which can cost you another $15-$30 per month.

Let’s be clear: the dollar amount is lower but the cost per MB is still sky high. If you go over the bandwidth limit, your wallet is going to scream…
