Spyker – from cars to phones
Spyker is a Dutch-based automaker who is now getting their fingers wet in the world of cellphones with the launch of the Spyker C8 Laviolette (399 Euros) and C8 Laturbie (199 Euros). Both of these handsets actually pay homage to the Spyker C8 super car, boasting similar fine craftsmanship found in their vehicles. Unfortunately, they don’t really measure up when it comes to performance with both handsets featuring an ordinary dual band (900/1800Mhz) GSM radio, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and MP3 ringtone support. The C8 Laviolette has an impossibly small 1.5″ 128 × 160 display while the C8 Spyder fares even worse with the 1.2″ 128 × 160 display. No idea on how much they cost, but I definitely won’t want to pay a premium for something that has less features than a mid-range Nokia just for the brand name alone.
