No, that is not some title for a new reality TV show but instead is the result of Nokia’s R&D from its Research Center. The Point&Find is simple in its premise, and yet would be extremely engaging to use. All you need to do is snap a photo of it using your Nokia phone, and set it to the Point&Find server. Complex AI algorithms will allow Point&Find to determine the exact object, providing you with the necessary information by sending it back to you. The impact of such a solution would be enormous, but since there are literally billions of different objects in the world, I wonder how fast the computer algorithms will be able to work. It will probably work with certain categories of object first, and they must be well lighted before any match can be made so silhouettes are ruled out.
