Nokia goes green with cellphone alerts

Published

Nokia’s slew of recently launched handsets (the Nokia 1200, Nokia 1208, and Nokia 1650) aim to help conserve energy by alerting people to unplug the charger once the battery is full, an altruistic move that could see enough electricity saved up to power up to 85,000 homes annually. Apparently up to 2/3 of the energy used by a cellphone is gone to waste whenever it is unplugged after charging with the charger left behind in a live socket. Definitely not good news for those who love to leave their phones charging overnight as their slumber will be disturbed, so make sure you charge your phone during the daytime now.
