Helio shuts down mobile service

Helio has announced that it will officially shut down its hybrid EV-DO/WiFi service when May 8th rolls around, causing much dismay and heartbreak to mobile Internet users all over the country. This hybrid service enables your laptop to switch between EV-DO and WiFi connections depending on whichever was the cheapest, giving users an all-in-one solution. I wonder what’s the rationale behind closing down such a great idea – could it be due to the lack of revenue that could not earn enough to compensate for its infrastructure?
