Cellphone takes green initiative

Fancy that – a solar powered cellphone from China. The HTW S116 is no Motokrzr clone although it looks like one, but it features solar cells that provide up to half an hour of power for every hour of soaking up the sun’s rays. I would presume that this handset comes with a traditional power point as well as it would be folly to just rely on the sun to charge your phone. Features of the S116 includes a 1.3 megapixel camera, a memory card slot, and a 320 x 240 QVGA display. There was just a paper presentation at CeBIT last week, so we don’t know whether the HTW S116 is vaporware or not. However, HTW Electronics claim that this unique handset will hit retail shelves across China next month.
