Zune phone on the way?

Microsoft submitted a filing to the FCC just this week, dropping hints that the company will probably jump on the iPhone bandwagon in the next iteration of the Zune. This filing showed that Microsoft are seeking approval for a prototype of a wireless device which can be used to hold conversations over the Internet. This wireless devices will take advantage of OFDM technology which routes digital TV and voice calls among devices. Although not a full-fledged cellphone, this is definitely a step closer towards that inevitable reality. A WiFi-WiMax Zune handset might not be a hit today, but three years down the road and the picture will be very different.
