Samsung unveils new Ultra II line
Samsung has taken the fight to the rest of the competition by unveiling an Ultra II line of super slim handsets. First off the blocks is the Ultra Edition 5.9, measuring a mere 5.9mm slim and boasting a 3 megapixel camera. Also known as the U100, this tri-band handset will remain an European exclusive as it is not fully usable across the Atlantic. The U600 (Ultra 10.9) will replace the D900, boasting similar functionality in a new design and dimensions. The camera remains at 3 megapixels, but the display has been boosted to 2.2″. The Ultra 12.1, also known as the U700, features 3G connectivity but lacks the 850GHz GSM band which makes it yet another European exclusive. Last but not least, the U300 (Ultra 9.6) is a clamshell that will usurp the outgoing D830, featuring a 3 megapixel camera, a QVGA internal display, and a tiny external OLED unit. Pricing details for all the above mentioned handsets are still unknown as at press time.
