Nintendo phone a possibility

I personally find it hard to believe that Nintendo has filed a patent way back in November 2001 to produce an “Electronic apparatus having game and telephone functions”. I suppose back in those days, color cellphones were just a novelty, hence the Big N toyed with the idea of developing a cellphone that plays all your Game Boy favorites wherever you go. How things have changed in the span of half a decade – I suppose this idea has been binned despite the patent finally being issued last year. The closest cellphones ever came to as a viable portable gaming platform was the Nokia N-Gage, and we all know how that turned out. Does Nintendo know something else we don’t? After all, the DS’ weird design and interface was doomed to die when faced off against the PSP, but we were pleasantly surprised in due time.
