Samsung SCH-V960 touts optical joystick
Samsung will once again lay claim to another first in the world of cellphones with the launch of the SCH-V960, touted to be the world’s first cellphone that comes with an Optical Joystick. This Optical Joystick is nothing more than a glorified mouse where users place their finger above it, using it to navigate through the menu. Optical sensors will read and react to the finger movement accordingly, doing away with the need for a standard four-way menu navigation while providing 360 degrees of freedom in the process. There is also an integrated illumination sensor inside the SCH-V960 that automatically controls the brightness of the screen’s LCD and keypad according to its surroundings. Other features include Bluetooth connectivity, a 2 megapixel camera, and GPS navigation. Expect to see the SCH-V960 hit Korean streets at the end of this month.
