Nokia ships 2626 entry-level handset

Nokia has lifted the curtain on the Nokia 2626, a dual-band EGSM handset that runs on the Series 40 user interface. This cellphone comes in a candybar form factor and does not feature anything interesting, with a miserable 128 x 128 pixel 65k color display to play around with. Other functions include an integrated FM radio, Nokia’s Xpress Audio Messaging, a voice recorder, MMS support, Instant Messaging, MP3 ring tones, an e-mail client, JAVA support, a WAP browser, and a built-in handsfree speaker. Chances are Nokia will ship the 2626 to emerging markets as developed and mature countries settle for more powerful handsets. The Nokia 2626 is tipped to retail for 75 Euros a pop.
