Road S101 challenges Nokia Communicator
The Nokia Communicator has a worthy rival in the S101 Linux cellphone from Road. Powered by the Linux operating system and the Qtopia user interface, this quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE device features both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. Opening the S101 will reveal a QWERTY keyboard and a 640 x 240 display. The external 102 x 65 display is used for dialing purposes only. The S101 comes with a host of PIM & messaging applications, synchronizing tools, media player software, and a pre-installed web browser. Hardware specifications show the S101 is powered by an Intel PXA264 400MHz processor, 64 MB RAM and 64MB ROM. Multimedia functions are aplenty courtesy of the 2 megapixel camera, MP3/video playback, and an image editor. Pricing and availability details are unknown.
