Motorola enables E680G for gaming

Motorola and Shanda Interactive Entertainment have tuned the E680 into the E680G, enabling it to handle online gaming. The latter company will offer World of Legend and Magical Land online RPGs that are played over the E680G. The D-pad at the bottom works very well as a navigation pad, while the two buttons will serve as in-game buttons. Shanda will be charging a monthly subscription fee of $3.76, whereas Motorola’s profit will come in via the handset’s sales. This is a first in the world of cellphones and could garner quite a following, but don’t expect it to grow into the MMORPG juggernaut that is World of Warcraft.
