FCC approves UTStarcom GPRS1228 cellphone

The GPRS1228 from UTStarcom is set to ruffle Motorola and Samsung’s feathers in the slim cellphone segment. This cellphone has been approved by the FCC and looks like it shares the SLVR’s thickness, although the exact dimensions are yet unknown. The GPRS1228 features a microSD memory card slot, a VGA camera, built-in MP3 functionalities, and a karaoke function. This tri-band GSM device look set to remain in Asia even though it has the FCC’s approval as UTStarcom does not have a presence with GSM carriers in the U.S..
