Solar-powered cellphone being developed
Cellphones these days have an admirable amount of functions packed into it – wireless connectivity, 3G, as well as 3D graphics, and all these drain the batteries pretty quickly. Fraunhofer researchers are working on a solar powered cellphone by using device-integrated, high-efficiency solar cells that offers a module efficiency rate of 20%. This allows the cellphone to remain powered perpetually as long as it receives sufficient sunlight. Basic phones will fare better with this technology even though current phone batteries offer a decent performance level. Imagine having a cellphone that you never need to charge – a boon to teenagers, and a curse to businessmen.
