Proposed complete ban of cellphone in cars in Kansas city

Looks like a proposed law that restricts cellphone usage by drivers will be voted soon by lawmakers in Lawrence, Kansas. This will be the harshest legislation of its kind throughout the entire U.S. Other cities allow drivers to use a hands-free unit, but there will be no such liberties given in Lawrence proposition. So far research has shown that holding a cellphone does not distract the driver, but it is the actual conversation itself that is going on. Needless to say, mobile carriers strongly oppose to a complete ban, as they claim that other distractions such as McDonald’s coffee and a bunch of hyperactive kids behind are just as great.
