LG launches V9000 in Europe
The world’s first 3G UMTS (WCDMA) T-DMB (Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) cellphone was launched in Europe by LG Electronics. The LG-V9000 handset is the only model that is on par with the standards set by the Bavarian Regulatory Authority for Commercial Broadcasting for mobile TV phone. The LG-V9000’s launch couldn’t have been timelier with the World Cup kicking off on June 9. Its 2.2″ wide-swing LCD can yield lifelike pictures and the phone has enough memory to record up to an hour’s worth of TV programs. It supports GSM (2G), GPRS (2.5G), UMTS(WCDMA) (3G) and TDMB as well.
