InvenSense have developed a gyroscope-based solution for handsets that elevates user interaction to the next level via hand motions. Motion sensing made a big splash at the recent E3 when Nintendo’s Wii console stole the thunder. The IDG-300 gyroscope is the world’s smallest solution, measuring just 6mm x 6mm. It is able to measure more than 400 degrees of rotation per second and costs under $3 when purchased in high-volume consumer quantities. Motion sensing is touted to herald an intelligent and intuitive user interface using natural hand movements, opening up technology to a wider audience.
