Chinese authorities to blanket cellphone signals at exam halls

A handful of Chinese universities are looking at different ways to prevent cheating in exams, including blocking cellphone signals at exam halls. Due to the highly competitive nature of education in China, some desperate students have resorted to cheating using their cellphones via picture messages and short texts. Police departments have probed nearly 30 cases last year who were suspected of cheating on exams using hidden telecommunication equipment. Some experts disagree with the move, as scrambling devices could result in unhealthy side effects. All students sitting for exams this year onwards will have to sign an agreement that they will not chear.
