The world’s most expensive phone number, 666 6666, was auctioned off in Qatar for a whooping £1.5 million (10.5 million riyals) for charity. This transaction shattered the previous record of £270,000 for the number 8888 8888. Organized by Qatar’s national telco Qtel, bids began from a million riyals before it took off to an astronomical amount. Not everyone thinks that this number is devilish, as Judaism interprets the number as holy. Since proceeds from the auction is for a good cause, there is no need to cry foul about spending frivolously on something so trivial as a phone number.
