Infrared 10 Times Faster
Japanese companies Omron and ITEX have developed an application for Symbian OS which boosts infrared transfer speeds up to 10 times higher than its current speed. Jointly developed by ITX-EG, NTT DoCoMo Inc., Sharp Corp. and Waseda, IrSimple has been adopted as a global standard by IrDA (Infrared Data Association), an organization that designs and sets standards for infrared communications. IrSimple is expected to open new avenues for users who will be able to transmit photos or other data with a simple “point and shoot” action.
